Reading back some posts.
A friend commented that my older posts don't sound like me..
Oh well..either I've grown *ehem* wiser
Or it's my lil heart that speaks here...

But then again..my blog doesn't reflect the whole me

So, yea...pls don't take my posts too seriously..
It doesn't reflect the real me..
(well if it sounds wise than it does, but if it sounds dumb...then i was just trying to be funny..ha ha)

But I love reading back my old posts..
And recall how I felt at that moment when the post was written and how I was much 'simpler'
Yea..as u grow older..u kinda become more complicated..
Like they say..the more u know..the more u realize that u actually don't
And instead of the black and white of things..u began to see the grey side of them
Oh...now i know where those wrinkles come from :(

Just to share a song that I used to like when this movie "At Dolphin Bay" was a hit
If i'm not mistaken I watched it while waiting for my results for SAM ...and I stayed up till 6am to watch it

In another 9 days' time..2011 is coming to an end
And it's time to welcome 2012

New Year is always about resolutions
I used to have resolutions
But end up not keeping up with any
Though some i managed to achieve after years of having them in my list
I guess...some things just cannot be achieved in a year's time
It needs...yearsss....

Example: My Operasi X
Which I can quite proudly say.. I've (almost or already) achieved :-)

2012 means i'm even nearer to the big 3
Can't believe i'm actually THAT 'big' d
I think I kinda stuck at 24 and nvr grow since then
I haven't really reached the maturity of a late 20's 'girl' YET(yea..i still like to refer to myself as a girl)

I guess sitting in our comfort zone doesn't help with our maturity process
In fact I think I grew exponentially when I left home to Shah Alam
I was forced to grow up
And a lil more when I went to NZ
The struggles and sufferings make us stronger and wiser, I guess
Yea..like what they say "Whatever that doesn't kill us, makes us stronger"

I guess for 2012..
I just wish for new challenges
( Yea i know it's a very dangerous thing to ask for)
But with the new challenges, i also pray for the strength to face them :)
(To really write out my resolutions one by one would be revealing too much about my private life)

Hope that 2012 will be a better one for everyone
But then again...it depends on how we interprete the things around us that determine if it's a better one
So..hope that we can all have a grateful heart and be filled with joy in this coming New Year...

And also..I should include a Christmas song that i really like

It's Monday
And it's a holiday
I love public holidays

When I don't have to worry bout the time
And I can just sleep in

No commitments
No appointments
No responsibilities
Nothing

I still remember how ppl always say
Being a child is the best
You don't have a thing to worry about
It's a carefree life

As we grow older
May be some will say we will grow wiser
But..i think the older u get..
The more confused u become
Or maybe the more u contradict yourself
OR is it just me? Damn.

I still remember the scene from the play by the Footstool Players
It goes something along these lines
"God, everyday I wake up and when i look into a mirror
I see a child
Dressing up like an adult
Trying to be an adult"

I cannot agree more with that
Age catches up faster than my emotions and my thoughts
When I read back my blog a few years back
I don't seem to grow up much
I am still the same as I was a few years back

Maybe sometimes I feel that I'm wiser now
More mature now
But..there are areas in my life that i still feel lost
Especially when problems hit
I find myself whining like a baby

Well, we don't grow up over night
It's through experiences, pain and mistakes that we grow
Everytime we pick ourselves up from a rumble, we grow..a lil and a lil

It's easier said than done

But I am always reminded of this song
"Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"
(yea i still remember the first time Ping and I heard the song..it was during my Baptism classes
And how we were asked to sing it before each class..I still remember Ping and I giggled away coz the song sounded so...sorry but..old fashioned...or maybe it's just the singer..*mean*)
It has now become the song that I will sing everytime I am lost

It's been a while

Finally a quiet night
On the computer
And tmr is a holiday
I've been longing for such a night for a very long time
A night for myself

When I can sit down
Just me and my lil thoughts

After a nice hot shower
In my pyjamas

While he is fast asleep...
(Yea..he has been real busy and stressed up with work)

You know..blog is a funny place
It's a place that I would love to write my thoughts
But at the same time
It's an open area
So I have to be careful of what i post up
Coz i won't know who is reading it
Hmm..maybe I should keep a diary instead

But then again...
There are a lot of diary spies around
U know..those who love to secretly read your diaries..
So looks like no where is safe for secrets

But then sometimes you just need to write down your thoughts

Such a lovely wedding
And I din know that Jeff could be sooo sweet..

I admire girls..
I mean admire as in their beauty..their style and their smile
And i realised that it's always those girls with hot bods

But those with curves...healthy curves..

To Pao Pao

Waiting for my flight at LCCT
Basically I have another 4 hours to go
Thanks to Mr Lim who decided to get the earliest flight coz it's cheaper
So we have 6 hours to burn at LCCT

Oh well I'm not really complaining coz I can use the time to just walk around

Read blogs and even write a post :) How brilliant is that?

So I was just looking at ppl's blog and can't help thinking how I've nvr given much thought about my life until my marriage
I guess before this I just choose to go with the flow
Do what everyone else is doing (well not exactly everyone but.. More like what all the old ppl would expect me to do)
Graduate, work, get married, give birth and spend the next 20years or so raising kids then retire and sign myself up for an old folks' home ( ok the last part I was just being sarcastic)

So basically I was living my life according to a typical template
But after my wedding and all... It suddenly hits me that I haven't really given much thought
about my life
And if I go on like that.. I might regret for taking life so lightly

So after the wedding and all I've been having some kinda struggle going on in me
They called it the post marriage syndrome
But I think it's more like suddenly I realized I should given life more thought
Or maybe I should do more unconventional things during my 20s or 30s
And before the lil one comes into picture

Maybe some may think I'm being a rebellious wife, a typical 21st century lady
Who wants it all.. But not kids
I'd rather see it as.. Wanting to live a life that is fruitful and which I will not regret in my later years

And so this got me thinking
What then should I do?
Should I continue to go to work 8-5pm everyday and wait for time to pass
Or should I go and do something different?
Something I would love to before I couldn't

I know Hern has his mind set on his work and all
And I'm glad he is kinda alright with my idea of no kids yet and reaching out to see what I can offer
But then again.. I wouldn't know how much he is ok with it until it happens right?

But at least I got a yellow light :)
So now it's my turn to take the step.. Out of my comfort zone into a world which I wanted to explore long ago but never have the courage to or simply coz the timin isn't right yet.

So it's time to venture out of my comfort zone
Abut dont get me wrong... I will not neglect my duties as a wife
It's just that.. I'm gonna be Pao and also Mrs Lim

Today is one of the few occasions when i can have a relaxing weekend
It brings me back to the days when I was in Dunedin
Walking the malls all alone
Not having any appointments, no one to meet, nothing to attend to
One of those days when I can enjoy the moment alone
Just letting my mind go free
Not having to think about work or anything
Just do whatever I want
Go wherever I want

It feels good
To be by myself

You know how ppl always contradict themselves?
And how the grass is always greener on the other side
When I was all alone in NZ, I always wish to share it with someone
To have someone share the walks
Share the meals,
Share my experiences.

And then when we have the presence of our family, friends and loved ones
We wish that we could wander off alone
Weird isn't it?

Oh well...human are just unpredictable
Hardly ever satisfied, I guess

But nevertheless...i am enjoying my Saturday :)

As July approaches, and as I am getting the replies from my guests...I am getting pretty excited
Coz so far...most of my friends say they are coming!!
I am getting butterflies in my stomach..
I want it to be a beautiful wedding
One that I will remember...
One day I will fall in love all over again

I am quite looking forward to July..
Coz Uncle James and family will be back
Minnie will be back
Yettie will be coming
All my friends will be gathered in the hall to watch me walk down the aisle

Then there is also the Hen's Night
The prewedding gathering
The bride fetching
All the fun stuff

And after all is done
It's the new life with my other half
A life of 2 people...getting to know each other all over again
Moulding each other
And shaping each other into the perfect match

The journey ahead is a long one
One step at a time..
Even though we've been together for a decade..
We have prolly another 6 decades ahead together

It's been a while...

It feels 'familiar' to be doing these things
Feels..quite good...feels secure...and comfortable

Prolly coz lately I've been through some roller coasters
Work roller coasters...emotional roller coasters
It's been a constant struggle within myself
Sometimes I am on the rooftop...sometimes I am underground..
Sometimes I am just in between

Things get pretty complicated as we age, don't they?

It's just the transition that is making things a lil complicated, I guess.

MARRIED

I am married.
I was getting butterflies in the stomach the night before...it feels so unreal
The registration was quite fast...just a few minutes...and we are now officially married
We are now Husband and Wife (ok..this still feels weird)

Basically what happens at the wedding registration was the registrar reads out the marriage vow which says that:
Hern and I are now bounded by the law to be husband and wife for life
None of us should remarry unless we are divorced by the law

So it kinda tells u that under the law u are husband and wife
And that you should not marry someone else
However, if under certain circumstances..u need to remarry..u still have a way out
Divorce.
Not very optimistic, huh?

I did not get to have a church wedding
And so I did not get to do the vow the Christian way
And somehow it feels incomplete
So I've search for a few and chose one which I will keep as my vow:

I give you this ring, wear it with love and joy. I choose you to be my husband: to have and to hold, from this day forward. For better, for worse, for richer for poorer; in sickness and in health; to have and to cherish, as long as we both shall live. 3 days to my ROM
I've been on a roller coaster ride for the past few days
They call it the prewed jitters...
Yea..this is like the n-th time I'm getting it

But like always...I chose to turn to some close friends...God and spending some quiet time alone to settle the 'storm' within me
The storm is slowly calming down

I thank God for the angels He has been sending me
People who helps to lift the burdens off my shoulder...and the worries off my chest.

It's Easter today
I woke up singing and reminding myself that...above everything on this world...
I should put God first
I should stop trying to please ppl...coz all these will just go to waste

Will be having dinner with my CG members tonight...

Tmr is the photoshoot day
Now it's not so much of the jitters bla bla bla
Since everything is already planned out...it's more like going through the process

Kinda excited bout the shoot
Hope that everything goes smoothly and that the photos will be nice..coz i've paid a bomb for the package

Did my nails and Nail Chapter just now (voucher from mydeal)
It's my first time getting a real pedi and manicure :)
Slept halfway thru the process..hahha
So now i have pretty nails...
Initially i wanted French manicure..but need to top up another RM20..
And being the 'kiam siap' me..i settled for the normal manicure
Will prolly buy a french manicure set myself and apply it next time :)
New resolution: To keep my nails pretty...*grins*

I know my blog has been really lacked of photos..
And it's just full of words..
Will try to post up more photos when i'm more semangat..

Then it's time to start preparing for the Wedding Reception

Kinda excited with the gown fitting and photoshoot..
Just pray that I can find gowns that make me look good
And that the photos will all come out nicely:)

Earthquake and tsunami hits Japan today
Barely a month after hitting New Zealand
Now tsunami alert is everywhere
And if u look at the tsunami video on YouTube u will be so freaked out

I had a dream of tsunami at gurney and it's almost like the ones on YouTube
Just that in my dream I saw 5 dinasours running out of the water

It's a weird dream but its actually the second time I've dreamt of tsunami
It could be coz I look at thr sea everyday

Whatever it is.. We can only pray that the earth will stop shaking so much
And that all those affected are safe

Work is crazy!!! (That means having to stay back till 545pm)
*Grins* hehhee..i know..dun throw rotten eggs at me
But hey, my work is not sitting at the computer and answering calls..
It's walking and running around the whole freaking hospital!!!

So..imagine i'm prolly on my feet from 8am till 545pm..
Maybe get to sit only for an hour or two throughout the day

And at home..I still have to continue planning for tmrw's work
And put on my nerdy specs to study...zzzzzzzzz (but today i really tak larat..so i just gave myself a day off)

Initially I was the one who was so excited about the wedding..
Printing out checklist..writing down my awesome ideas in my notebook..bla bla bla
Instead now..Hern is the one asking me if i keep a checklist of my to-dos coz the date is drawing nearer
And I can't be bothered to...
Simply coz I am too tired to even think about planning for my wedding...*grits teeth*

Prays that the nightmare at work will end soon so that I can channel my energy to my big day
It's been a long long time since I last sat down with a bunch of friends just hanging out..and chilling
I can't seem to be able to squeeze in anytime for such activities now
And even if ppl invite me out to lepak...I always have other more important things to attend to..

Counting down the days to my next holiday
But at the same time prays that workplace will be fine when i'm away...

The dilemma of a working lady

Browsing thru some blogs lazily while waiting for the time to head to work
Yes, I'm gonna be an owl tonight
Work is from 9pm to 8am tmr morning...which is gonna zap a lot of my energy
Fortunately I get a day off tmrw (unlike Drs who have to continue working after their on calls...)
I dun think I will ever be able to work 24hours or 36 hours non stop..
I'll prolly just drop dead after a call

Just the other day was having a discussion with a friend about income and working hours
I was complaining to her how lil I earn compared with my other friends..
Ppl always have the wrong perception that government servants are very lucky bla bla bla
Prolly if u are NOT working in the healthcare related field

Coz almost 60-70% or maybe 80% of the people go to government hospitals for treatment
What more if u are in a big city...
If u are in a clinic in a remoted kampung ..then prolly u can shake legs and minum kopi everyday
But if u are in KL..Penang..Malacca or any other big cities..
U will be working ur arse out

What more if you are trying to expand your services...
But the manpower in your department doesn't seem to increase
Plus with the hike in prices on other stuff...more and more ppl are looking at free medical options
And not to mention...the increase in incidence of degenerative diseases..namely cancer...
Workload is gonna increase, no doubt.

But then I was brought back to reality on how hard my friends are working in the private sector
Apparently some of them work till 8pm or 9pm everyday..
(Just like sis..who works till 10pm almost every night.)
But does that mean we have to accept that as a fact of life and try to work even later??

I guess NO..
It simply means.. that working your ass out is not gonna take u anywhere
There should be a better solution than being a work cow

Right now I've not found the solution
So, I shall just continue with my work..(just like anybody else)
And wish that I marry a rich man..

I guess only 5% of the people really love their jobs??
Another 95% just work coz they have to??
And some preach that you should love your job...
In other words...since you don't have a choice..then just make yourself love your job.

Whatever it is..I'm thankful that I have a bunch of great colleagues which makes working so much bearable..and enjoyable :)

I guess I also have to remind myself that...
I should do everything to glorify His name
(I know...despite all the complaints and all..I have to keep reminding myself that...do everything to bring glory to His name)

A friend once told me that pictures ( though tell a thousand words) do not tell the whole story..
I agree totally coz we only capture our happy moments and share it with the world
Only certain ppl would take pictures of their low moments to share it with others..

And just the same.. Most of the time we only post up happy moments in our blogs
Rarely would we post our doubts.. Regrets.. Worries on blogs
Probably coz it is not right to hv such doubts
Or coz we don't want to be judged
Or to reveal our vulnerable side

Ever since I started using iPhone I hardly switch on my comPuter ... What more to update my blog..

Ping blogged about her valentine and I think I shud too since hern took me out for a nice dinner
Though I know there are many ppl who think valentine's day is overrated ... I dun mind being pampered once a while :)

And indeed I felt special that evening :)

And hern still taking the effort to take me for a nice dinner after a decade together
Though there were no presents this year..(only a stalk of rose from the restaurant)... But I felt special... And pampered

Pre wed jitters PART I is over
And we are both kinda excited about the big day
Just that Hern is more 'excited' about the hole that it's gonna make in his pocket...wakkakaka

I know i've been missing for quite some time...

And also...I am into a "Project" recently
Yea...it's like the Project of My Life

Oh well....I am getting MARRIED!!!
Shocked?? hahha....No worries..coz Hern and I are also in shock.still... (hahha)

Hern still asks me, "Can you believe that we are getting married?"

We've been together for almost...10 years (9 years and 2 months to be exact)
And automatically everyone kinda know that we will get married eventually...
And we kinda put the thought aside..thinking ah..maybe a year or 2...
But then suddenly...we are turning 27...

And we decide that it's time to get married ...(and have kids..hehe this one still not in the picture la..but i would love to have cute kids..minus the crying part)
So now...the IDEA is slowly sinking in...and freaking us out a lil as well..

Another 4 more months to our ROM
And another 7 months to the Wedding Reception
Counting down...till then..I shall enjoy my singlehood kao kao

Christine's Farewell

Colleagues held a farewell party for Christine as she will be leaving us and going back to KL for good :(
And looking at the number of friends who celebrated her farewell on her facebook
You can imagine how many lives she has touched in her short stay in Penang

Christine is one cheerful girl, easy going and gets along well with just anyone
I love her blog as everytime I read her blog..it's as if she is speaking on my behalf
Most often than not...it relates so well with my current situation or struggles
I guess..God speaks to us through many ways...and her blog is one of them :)

Found out about this incident from a fren over coffee and I'm really shocked by it
And after reading some blog post and newspaper report..
I decided to post up this page which I believe is still fighting to find the cause behind his death

It's a real bizzare

Ping and I went looking for the Hair Color at Guardian and Watson's near our house but looks like they don't have it yet

Melaleuca continues and Merdeka Eve

Day 1 of taking the Melaleuca Access Performance Bar and then hitting the gym
Took it on an (almost) empty stomach *kekek coz i curi eat something* 15 mins before my workout

I am not too sure bout the claims that it makes u sweat a lot....
But one thing for sure...IT SURELY DOES give me A BOOST OF ENERGY
I wasn't panting after my Body Combat...instead I was longing for more...
But since Step was next...and i did not want to risk spraining my ankle again...
I did not continue with the next class

And I shud once again stress that the taste is SUPERB!!!
It's like eating a SNICKERS bar minus the guilt...and plus the joy that it will help me burn more fat :)
Awesome right??? But of course it costs about 3-4 times a Snicker bar...hehhe

I shall wait till tmrw to see how good it is in reducing post workout muscle pain..

Mum bought this Melaleuca energy bars which claim to help burn fat while we workout

I've tried half a bar the other day before going for an evening walk with Ping

The taste is superb and the reason i did not finish the whole bar was coz it was very rich...and i felt so sinful for eating the whole bar

Will try eating a bar before my next gym workout

Fingers cross that I will not end up gaining weight instead.

From some of the reviews i read...

People claim to lose weight with this bar

But when i have a look at the content...

It has butter, chocolate, milk..and all the fattening stuff

With this bar...ur sweat will come pouring out once u start ur workout..(15 mins after taking the bar)

Not only that it also claims to help with after workout sores (reduces lactic acid built up) and also gives us more energy

Will give the remaining 9 bars a try and I'll be back to share if it is working...

I bought one last night and today I wore it
And guess what??

I'M LOVING IT!!!!

Mine is Walkstar in Fushia...Chose that coz it's the cheapest of the lot...and coz it's very pretty

I seriously think this is the best pair of footwear that i've ever worn
I am not exaggerating but it's really gonna be my FAVOURITE pair of flipflops

Marcia Kilgore, the boss claims that she knows what women want... and i can't agree more

3. It's PINK..ok i don't wanna sound so bimbo..but it's really pretty

4. It's about 2 inches thick..."lil ppl" like me need some extra padding

If only it wasn't so sporty looking i would be wearing it to work EVERY SINGLE DAY

Remember how i wanted a DSLR but was very reluctant to part with my money??
For the past few days i have been counting and counting my money and still tak sampai hati wanna get the DSLR

But then I got this idea...
Coz for the past 2 years...i kinda know that i still have some money left in Bank Simpanan Nasional
I can't remember how much there is
But i know i still have a bit of money in there..
It's just that i can't find the bank book...

So, I told myself...if i can find the bank book...i will use the money to get my DSLR
And today..i decided to just dig my drawer...
AND TADA!!!!

I found the bank book...
And guess how much do I have in that bank???

RM2.7k (ok..i hope no one comes and rob me...)

And that's the perfect amount to get my camera!!!
Prolly have to top a bit if i wanna upgrade the lense...but still..i am very happy d :)

I know some ppl will say i am being silly..coz ultimately that is still my own money...
But then...if it wasn't for the determination to get the camera...i wouldn't have found the bank book..and the money will still be in the bank...sitting there and not doing any good (for me)...

SO, DSLR...Here i come...

I've heard of this place for quite some time but haven't visited it personally
Coz ppl complaint that there are a lot of mosquitoes at the restaurant..(luckily now they provide mosquitoes coil)
Big sis brought us there last weekend coz she was craving for some good Malay food..

Hern gave us a teka-teki...he asked..what is this thing for...

I said it's a sangkar ikan...to catch fish..asalkan not ikan bilis

Grandma said...catch fish la..what fish also can catch..

But apparently..according to Hern..it's to catch long fish..like belut..

I guess it does make sense..looking at the shape of it..

Coz according to Hern's reasoning...when the belut swims into the trap...it will get in thru the cone shape opening...and get trap in it..since belut is long ..make sense..i suppose

Ordering time is the most head scratching moments....

Just trying out sis's camera to see if it can take good pics at nite...

We ordered Singapore Bihun....i would give it a 3/5 without the chilli...but a 4/5 with the chilli paddi

We also ordered this cucur bilis..which I think is a 4/5...my granny who has a mouth of gold..seems to enjoy this too :)

We also had ikan panggang, sotong cili, mango smoothie (which is actually mango ice blended), seafood tomyam and ABC.

Don't say i did not warn u...the food is quite spicy...Ping and Hern were sweating like *tut* during the meal..

But if u are like me...love spicy food..then u shud give this place a try :)

Lastly, Hern's attempt to take a nice night shot with a compact...quite successful, i think

Sand or Rock?

Today's reading from the Upper Room Daily Devotion talks about our lives' foundation
Do we build our lives on sand or rock??

TODAY as I read this portion of the Bible, I was reminded of the times that I went to a youth camp on the shore in Somerset, England. One of the activities we looked forward to at this camp was the "tide fight." Two teams would build the biggest sandcastle they could on the local beach as the tide was coming in. We would use whatever we could find to make our castle as tall and as strong as possible, to withstand the incoming water. When each castle was complete, a flag was put on the top. Builders of the last castle to fall were the winners. After the tide ebbed, little if anything remained of our castles; they were completely washed away. We had nothing to show for all of the hard work we put into building them.

Our lives can be like those sandcastles. Jesus said that if we build on sand, the elements will soon destroy what we have built. But if we build on a good and firm base, our buildings will stand up to anything that comes against them. Jesus meant that we are to build our lives on his word, to lay the foundation of our lives on what he taught. That foundation is strong and firm, and it can never be destroyed.

Somehow this article just hit me
At times i do stray away
Got carried away with the worldly things
And start to build my life on sand
On things that when the tide comes...will be washed away
I guess it's just human nature to be caught in the "world"
Moreover, the idea about living life to the fullest and enjoy while u can is a popular misconception
But then again, living your life to the fullest can mean a lot things
It can mean living your life to the fullest by getting wasted, trying all the things that the world has to offer
OR
It could mean...living your life for God, living a life of service, to serve others

As I reflect on today's reading, I realise where i am heading to lately
And i need to get hold of the wheels and redirect my life

It's a struggle
It is constantly a struggle
But I am not alone.

And I am back
Slimmer...and HOTTER...(in my dreams....)

I think i'm still the same..did not lose a gram....(fingers cross that i din gain any instead)

But I am quite proud with myself...with the fact that i hit the gym TWICE this week
With so much running around...locums etc...it's really 'power' that i actually went to the gym twice
(of course with the motivation of ...*ehem ehem*)

Anyways...working out is the best guilt buster
After u've consumed ice-creams, cakes and chocolates...
The only way to get rid of the guilt is...HIT THE GYM
the post workout endorphines are just GREAT!!!!

Last night I was thinking on how to earn more $money$

Tonight I just pray that the ppl around me are healthy and safe

A friend got admitted
Dr is yet to confirm the diagnosis
But there is fluid in his lungs and he had to go through a painful procedure to drain it out

When i heard his cries of pain
I could almost feel it too
All of a sudden I feel so vulnerable
Then a thought crossed my mind

When we are sick
Ntg else matters
Not even the RM6K, the dresses at Dorothy Perkins or the holiday to Europe
We just hope to be well....

Mum has been complaining that she feels a bit unwell too lately

I just hope that everything is well with her...
And that the ppl around me will be well and safe
